Start with the complete marking
Record every letter, number and suffix before shopping. The chemistry prefix and drain suffix can carry information that a bare size number does not.
Use dimensions as a check
Many round-cell designations encode an approximate diameter and height, but manufacturing tolerances and historical short codes mean a caliper is a confirmation tool—not the whole answer.
Resolve to one canonical profile
A manufacturer code may map to a standard profile. Once resolved, compare chemistry, voltage, drain behavior and terminal style before treating another marking as equivalent.
