Physical fit

Both names describe a roughly 20 mm by 3.2 mm coin format, so the cases can appear interchangeable.

Electrical mismatch

A CR2032 is a 3 V primary lithium coin cell. An LIR2032 is a rechargeable lithium-ion cell commonly rated around 3.6 V.

Safe conclusion

Do not substitute one for the other unless the device and charging circuit explicitly support the selected chemistry and voltage.

Decision boundary

This guide narrows a battery decision but does not override the device manufacturer’s current manual or safety instructions.
